Eastbourne and Willingdon MP Caroline Ansell has undertaken a virtual visit to Shinewater Court care home to see how employees and residents have coped with Coronavirus.
The Disabilities Trust-run establishment has had no cases of covid diagnosed in either its 35 residents or 67 staff since the pandemic started. Residents are tested at least once every three weeks.
The home in Milfoil Drive set up a Covid-secure visitor room so loved ones can meet residents and from this week it is able to rapid test visitors for the virus.
“It was good to Zoom in and chat to the manager Anita Cobb, staff and residents about their experiences during the pandemic and for me to have the chance to thank staff for the amazing work they are doing to keep everyone safe at Shinewater Court this year,” said Caroline.
“The residents I spoke to felt safe and cared for, which is the ultimate testament to the job being done there, but, like many vulnerable people, they are looking forward to going out once again soon.
“It has been tough for all our care homes and I thank every single member of staff across our town for their dedication too.
"At Shinewater, I was really pleased to see that morale was high, that PPE supplies were good and everyone is looking forward to Christmas.
“Now the vaccine is being rolled out there is hope for better days but until then, these residents couldn’t be in better hands.”
