Today at Prime Minister's Questions I asked the PM what more we could do to tackle human trafficking and prevent refugees from risking their lives on crossing the Channel in small boats.
I am pleased to see legislation is being brought forward that will break the business model of smugglers and rightly prioritise those in need rather than those who can pay and are fit enough to travel.
I also want to thank our RNLI who have responded to vessels in distress. Saving lives at sea is a clear and pressing priority - ensuring the boats do not set sail in the first place is vital to save lives and prevent exploitation by smugglers.
