Eastbourne and Willingdon MP Caroline Ansell has received her booster Covid jab as she urged everyone to step forward to get one.
Caroline received her Pfizer vaccination at The Beacon Tuesday morning exactly 28 days after she tested positive for Covid – the earliest she could have the jab after getting the virus.
Nurse Jackie, who stepped out of retirement to help the NHS vaccine rollout, administered the injection.
“My previous two jabs saw me through nine months clear of the infection and made a difference to my experience of Covid symptoms but now this booster is an added protection in case I get the Omicron variant,” said Caroline.
“I know that in Eastbourne and Willingdon take-up of the booster roll out has been strong so far but we need everyone who can to step forward and get the jab.
“There is no doubt the brilliant vaccination programme has been a game changer in this pandemic. Omicron is very contagious but serious illness and hospitalisations from Covid are a fraction of what they were when there were no vaccines.
“Vaccines work. Please grab a jab and protect yourself, your family and friends, your work colleagues and the NHS this winter.”
Caroline also paid tribute to the staff and volunteers who continue the good work of putting jabs in arms across the town.
“It was brilliant to hear that Jackie had come out of retirement to do her bit to help and I thank her and all those who have stepped forward. We would not have done this without you. You are all absolute stars.”
